Previous Next

One of Portugal's genuine heavy-weights, San Lorenzo is a course that never fails to impress, with spectacular sea views, an imposing lake and an abundance of wildlife combining to ensure that every round is an adventure in itself. The coures opens with a monster par 5 and never looks back, with holes twisting this way and that, inland and seaward.

The Course is situated in the middle of Vale do Lobo estate and 100 metres from a beautiful sandy beach, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean on the south coast of Portugal. San Lorenzo Golf Course set in the spectacular Ria Formosa Nature Reserve, designed by Joseph Lee and owned by Le Meridien Dona Filipa, and currently ranked 5th Best golf course in Europe by Golf World and number 64th in the World by the Golf World Magazine.

The golf club has outstanding views, a calm and tranquil setting, looking over the Lagoons on the Ria Formasa nature reserve. The course features large fast greens and undulating fairways which meander through avenues of pine trees. The daunting 18th, with a semi-island green, to quote a cliché, is one of the best finishing holes in golf. San Lorenzo is beautifully maintained and set in an unspoilt area of natural beauty, and a must play if you wish to experience what golf in Portugal is all about.

The 18th Hole is a Fantastic end to a Fantastic course.
